Man Trying To Give Life In All 50 States

An Ohio man is on a mission to donate blood in all 50 states.

 

Al Whitney was at LifeSouth in Huntsville to donate platelets on Monday. In 2007, he started Platelets Across America trying to donate in all 50 states. Alabama was number 33 on his list. He funds the trips himself and calls it his personal mission to help others in need.

 

Whitney says he's not doing this for attention of praise, he just wants to do the right thing. "Just knowing that I have had an positive effect on some body's life... That's all I need."

 

Over the years, Whitney has donated more than five gallons of whole blood and over 600 units of platelets. His next stop is Kansas City.
